Its amazing to me how smart my little Vannie is and how fast she is growing into an independent little person. but with this stretching of her wings comes some testing of boundaries. I don't care how many parenting classes you have taken or in my case taught there are somethings that you're just not expecting :)
here are some of my favorite examples:

Mom: Vanna you better stop and get back here where i can see you
Vanna: Mom dont!!!! I'm telling Dad

Mom: Vanna stop throwing your food on the floor
Vanna: (holding out her spoon from her highchair) Dunner Eat

I love the Love and Logic curriculum and thought this will be great i'll use the uh oh song with Vanna when she throws her tantrums

The whole theory behind the uh oh song is it gives equal amounts of empathy and consequences and the child will learn that acting out isn't the way to get anything but alone time. It goes like this "uh oh, little bedroom time comming, see you when your sweet". Then you leave your child alone until their, well sweet. Sounds simple enough!
After a time or two of using this tactic out I needed to run to the store. Imagine my surprise when Vanna was a model child the entire time we were in the store :-) no attempted escapes, no screaming, only sitting quietly in the cart playing nicely with my purse. I was so impressed I let her out of the cart on the toy isle and told her she could pick a present because mommy rewards good behavior and I'm so proud of her! She looked at a couple toys then told me she was ready to go and wanted back in the cart. Jeeze I thought as I was patting myself on the back, this stuff really works. We went thru check out and made it all the way to the car without so much as a peep, and just as I reached into my purse for my keys Vanna looks at me so sweetly and sings Uh OH see you when your sweet. Are you kidding me??? Where are my keys??? Long story short we found them on the toy isle behind a toy she was paying particular attention to. Message received loud and clear little Vanna it's never fun to feel like you can't control your own choices and then someone sings a stupid song to you because you're not being "sweet".

March 2010 is all about family!!!

Becca and Leroy moved back to Georgia to be closer to Becca's family and my Mom and Maylan moved in with us

My how the time goes by...... The last 8 months have been a rush and i've neglected to update this blog so now i'm going back and filling in where i left off.

February 2010

Savannah Kate is 2 months old

Mel is still working in St George at least 6 days a week and we miss him a lot....

Especially when it comes time to going to the Dr. Because Savannah has a cough and a runny nose :(

But at the last minute the Dr. gave Vannah the green light and Mel got a couple days off work so we all went to San Diego because Katie had a work conference

This was Savannah and Mel's first Plane ride :) They both did great and Mel showed Vannah everything out the window as we flew over it!!!

Durring the day Mel would load Vanna up in the stroller and take her out to see all the sights And every once in a while i would get picture messages of the two of them and their grand adventures.

After the trainings were finished we would go out as a family exploring

We rode the Bus out to the Birch Scripps aquarium and saw all the sights

We also went on a tour of the USS MIDWAY. A huge retired aircraft carrier in the bay just down the street from our hotel

Savannah never did get to swim in the ocean but thats ok because the hotel tub was fun enough and the time we spent as a family was priceless

Welcome home little one there are so many people who are so excited to meet you

Rowdy has been waiting forever clear since he was 4 to finally see you
While you like to sleep a lot right now it's hard to find where you are everytime i put you down Dad takes you to sleep with him.

At least the snow waited until you were born One week after you made it the snow started and didn't stop for days.

On the 5th of Dec Mel got a phone call from John asking him to come back to work. He stayed with us until about 1 in the morning and headed back to St. George. The 6th is our anniversary and we had been married for 1 year to the day when he had to leave. We both cried when he left.

a couple days later we decided that just wasnt working so as soon as the doctor said i could drive and that it was safe for you we headed down to stay with your dad in the trailer in leeds. you slept the whole way and loved being there until we had to come back home.

As week two was happening you started to stay awake longer and your little personality came out more and more

Grandma Kate Even made it all the way from Tooele to come and see you Her 10th great grandchild she wouldn't put you down and you loved her as much back

At about 2am i woke Leroy up to take us to the hospital to see if this was real labor they watched me until about 5 then they decided to admit me and i called for Mel to head home Val came and stayed with me until Mel could get to Payson. He came walking into the room with Dr. Crouch at about 8.

At about 4 Sindi showed up Thank God, and the doctor told us that regardless of the last 5 hours of pushing there was no progress being made and recommended a C- section so Mel and i got ready for it. And soon after at 5:11pm the doctors announced "it's a Girl"

Mel went with her to the nursery and i stayed back so all the kings horses and all the kings men could put me back together again. They took me back to my labor room and i met our baby girl for the first time

After about an hour in that room we were moved to a recovery room with an extra bed so Mel could stay the night we were there for 3 days getting to know our little girl and deciding that we would name her Savannah. Jerry and Val came to see her at the hospital and a ton of people sent well wishes thru text messaging and facebook as well as phone calls

Mel would wake up in the morning and go Hunting Ducks while Savannah and i would get some much needed rest then he would come back and spend the rest of the day and night with us. He Had Savannah her own Camo shoes to wear home we thought it was funny that they fit her already she defiantly has her dad's feet. Mel was also totally impressed with the breath measure contraption they gave me his skills are outta this world!!!

We got to go home on Dec 3rd late in the day. It took us a minute to figure out the car seat but we made it into the D-max that Mel had all warmed up for us. The first thing we did when we got home was brought Sobe out to see me and that i was ok and to meet Savannah. She was amazing with both of us and doesn't like to be away from us since then.

Well here we are 2 weeks from D- day. Thanksgiving was good Razzie and Val came over with Rowdy and Kaycee and Becca and Leroy are here. Mel got to make it home for a day it was good to see him.
I went to the store to buy things for thanksgiving dinner and grabed a gallon of milk the experation date was after my due date i think that kinda sent me for a shock like this really is happening and soon.

I went to New Orleans for a work trip in October it was hard to fly that far but it was good. I"m not sure that i'm a fan of that city as it is not a pregnant friendly city. there are way to many boo's, all the food is super spicy, it's really humid, and it stinks a lot. but i did take a tour and saw some cool things

We didn't do anything for Halloween we were going to go as Richard Simons and A fat chick from the sweat'n to the oldies videos but Mel ended up working so i threw on a quick old house wife costume so when Rowdy came over it wasn't a complete bust.

We still have 5 black male puppies left to get to good homes but I took Dunner down to Mel a couple weeks ago he really loves Mel and they are so much alike it's great i hope that they have the same type of relationship that Sobe and i do.

WEll thats about all the news from here for now hopefully soon there will be a baby

am i ever not going to be pregnant

I'm sorry this isn't a positive post at all but i just need to vent that disclaimer aside.......

I"ve freaking had it i can't even tell you how much i am looking forward to contractions and transitional labor and the whole bit i don't want to be pregnant anymore. im burning out on the side effects. yesterday i tried to put my tree up and struggled because i can't bend over to assemble the dang thing let alone put lights on it so what should have been a 2 hour max job was all day long with intermission breaks to sob then today trying to save a little money i decided i would hurry and make some boppy covers so i have extras and my stupid fingers can't feel anything they are so numb from carpal tunnel and my arms just ache i can't sleep because i can't get comfortable and everytime i get up to go to the bathroom my feet hurt so bad from putting weight back on them. i've have heartburn so bad for my entire pregnancy that i get the runs from trying to take mylanta just so i can try to sleep. Mel is working on a line in St George so he has to go to where the work is which happens to be a 3 hour drive away and he is working all the time to save up money because he doesn't get any paid time off for when the baby comes so i'm getting to see him monthly and i really really need him right now because i'm so scared. I just want to be able to drive again so i can go see him. I want to sleep i don't care if it's 10 minutes then the baby wakes up just so it doesn't hurt anymore. I want to wash the bottom of my feet and know that they are clean. I WANT TO HAVE THIS BABY NOW!!!!!!

Sobe had her puppies all 11 of them saturday sept 12th starting at 12:30 in the morning and well she was having puppies all day long. they are the sweetest things i've ever seen. I came home from my first hypnobabies class and sobe was acting a little bit strange so i just sat with her and talked to her like i had learned in my class and was the best birthing coach i could be.

Well i made it all the way thru 7 months 3 more to go i wish that they would quit lying to people about only being pregnant for 9 months and just tell the truth!!!

Sobe is almost all the way done with her pregnancy she has about 19 days left and she is miserable. check out those hips!!!

I finally got the baby's room all cleaned out and put together for the most part i've still not done a lot of decorating but it's hard when i'm not sure if it's a boy or a girl so i have the essentials a crib a rocking chair and a little lamp

The Big 6th month

OK we have made it past half way thru the pregnancy and things seem to be going great i went and had an ultra sound. In case you can't tell that's the babies head!!!

It was an amazing experience Mel's boss Johnny's dad had just passed away in Hawaii and He was gone so Mel had to be the Foreman at the Lava hot springs job in Idaho and couldn't make it. I was sad that he wasn't there but took pictures and called when i was getting it done so it's sorta like he was there. We decided not to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl until D-day so we didn't get any better pics of the baby sorry!!!

Mel and I agree on about nothing 100 % but i think that with our personalities we would say that we didn't agree with the other just to make the other work harder and be better only winners here baby. so in tradition with not agreeing added by the suspense of not knowing if little skippy is a boy or a girl the baby's room is a disaster!!! If i had my total choice it would look like high class boutique that was decorated by Tim Burton and if Mel had his choice it would look like Sportsman's warehouse so here in lies our problem.

We do have some ideas that you'll all get a laugh at here is Mel's contribution to the baby's room

and well i would put a picture of my inspiration but Mel hated it so bad he made me give it away as a wedding gift (sorry Kayla i really loved it)

oh and back to the fox my favorite part about this fox is it has a strong hand like on scary movie 2

Sobe is Prego also she is half way thru her pregnancy as well but i guess that's not hard when your only pregnant for 63 days but no matter how long it takes to cook babies in the mommy over it's hard work

Sobe is so tired all the time and i know how she feels we wake up in the morning and look at each other like oh crap not again
but we are both excited and the weather is cooling off so i think we might just make it the both of us and that can only benefit Mel who wants to live with 2 pregnant ladies

and here in lies our problem because now i'm 5 months canned up and while i used to wonder what it felt like to be pregnant all i can think about now was how nice it was not to be. Don't get me wrong i'm so excited for this baby to come but i'm really missing normal life so here is my top 10 list of things i miss the most they are in no particular order because i miss them all the same so here we go

1. my feet
i have the greatest shoe collection ever it's taken me 30 years to get them all and now my feet swell up so fast i can't wear any of them

2. My internal thermostat
i remember that i was cold once i just wish i remembered how that feels

3. The Bar
some of the best days of my life

4. Girls weekends
could i still go out on girls weekends? Yes but how stupid would that be

5. Drunken mess at sand dunes
yeah the dunes are still fun but nothing like being the DD for everything speaking of DD lets get to #6

6. My BOOBS
i don't care how much it costs i will have you back

7. Playing Shotzee with Chase
the best drinking partner ever( i hope he tells his mom about my blog so she can tell her friends and i can be on oprah for most online friends)

8. Sleeping
as if getting comfortable isn't bad enough as soon as that happens i have to go to the bathroom and it starts all over

9. My attitude
how could i possibly be this big of a well, grouch

10. The sand dunes
i have no balance no tolerance for heat and can't drink why don't you just take away my birthday while you are at it

OUR STORY (cliff notes version)

Mel and i were set up on a blind date by some of our best friends. Mel was working in St George at the time and drove to Sanpete for the weekend. The first day we were supposed to meet i pulled a no-show what can i say i was so nervous, well that and our friend Jerry told me that Mel said he was going to drive his crappy car pool car so i wouldn't see his truck and think he had money i could get from him. ha ha ha! So me being me took that to mean that he thought i was some trashy girl looking for supplement income come on what do i look like GM, I'm so funny, anyway after that he came back to town the next weekend we met and played mario brothers all night i was better than him at mario 1 and he is the master of mario 2 so we both got to look good after that he pretty much stalked me ok so i liked being with him too but he did drive me crazy then Easter weekend we went camping at little Sahara and we slept in a tent because he let his brother borrow his truck, and his trailer was at his sisters (just the way Mel is always giving) anyway it rained so hard the tent was flooding and nothing was dry it was terrible and neither of us could sleep because we were so cold then i reached my feet to put them between Mel's to warm them up and i realized his feet were all the way out of the blankets i asked him why they weren't covered up and he said he didn't want to move the blankets because i was finally comfortable that's when i knew i loved him and have been with him ever since we bought a house in payson in 2007 married the end of 2008 and expecting a baby in Dec of 09 and along for the ride is our amazing sweet Sobe the worlds greatest dog
